bored of excitement – the griefjunkie blog

ogm!! the pregnancy!

Ahoy there, casual lovers.

Never let it be said that we’re out of touch with modern parenting here at griefjunkie.

Paul never knew his own father – and is still hoping that, in a dramatic plot twist, it might be Darth Vadar – and Joe likes single mothers so much that he’s actually marrying one. It’s the decent thing to do really, as he’s only gone and got her up the duff again – further proof of a link between ladies and pregnancy. Anyway, Abby – which is a strange name for a single mother, as they are usually called Kelly or Jade or Chelsea – had her first scan last Friday, and we can exclusively reveal that it’s going to be a boy and that happily Abby is definitely the mother. All being well, Joe Jnr should be with us pretty much exactly on Christmas Day – although that is where any similarity with a virgin birth must end, as anyone who has tried to get some sleep in the room next door when she is visiting will readily testify.

Meanwhile, the miracle of retail life is continuing in the East Yard. Martin, our long suffering jewellery selling human time bomb neighbour has rejoined the fray after a brief foray into the Market Hall, which is the big building behind our Yard. His pitch in there was fantastic, actually. However, it suffered in the same way that the whole of Camden is suffering at the moment, which was summed up neatly in the words of the East Yard’s fiscal analyst and lyrical master Steve Veedubs in his weekly column in the Financial Times as ‘no fucker is buying nothing.’ So yes, call it what you will – recession, credit crunch, wallet squeeze, cash stutter, cash boredom, flaccid economics or bashful coinage – but whatever has been forecast to fuck up the economy is certainly upon us. Still, we are confident that our motto – ‘Everything will probably be alright’ – will see us through. Also, we have our sleeves specially made for us by Saville Row tailors to accomodate all the tricks we have up them, which is handy what with Joe Jnr quietly ticking away and assembling himself.

Anyway. We’d like to close with a welcome to anyone who has followed us over from Livejournal. And, for that matter, a hello to any adolescents from our Myspace page who had the attention span to read our bulletin and have wandered over in a pointedly disaffected and sulky manner, and are probably already bored. It was kinda inevitable that we would end up blogging directly on to here at some point, and it’s nice to have it all finally sorted out and such.

We’d also like you to join us in raising a glass to Joe and Abby, who are getting married on August 30th. Just the one though, as it’s that kind of thing that got Abby in trouble in the first place.

Nicely.

Paul and Joe and All at publicgriefjunkie.
